SEG / Export Tariffs

Smart Export Guarantee which launched 1st January 2020, pays you for the energy you export back to the grid.

As SEG settles into the marketplace more tariffs will become available, below we have listed a few of the energy supply companies that you may want to consider switching to if you have solar panels installed.

However these rates change regularly so you should check with the suppliers or look at comparison websites for the best up to date rates

Tesla Energy Plan

The plan offers the best flat export (10-12p per kWh) and import (10-12p per kWh) rates available in the UK to date

Requirements to join this tariff

Have one or more Powerwall 2 batteries

MCS certified solar panel Installation

Compatible smart meter

Daytime consumption (from 07:00-19:30) less than 9,500 kWh per year, per-Powerwall-installed

Octopus Energy

Outgoing Octopus is the SEG tariff offering from Octopus Energy. The tariff has two options for customers to choose from, fixed and agile. The fixed tariff guarantees exporters 7.5p/per kWh (metered export) whilst the agile tariff matches half-hourly prices with day-ahead wholesale rates

Requirements to join this tariff

A SMETS2 smart meter (or SecureTM SMETS1) needed to be installed and able to send half hourly export meter readings

You must not be receiving export payments from the old feed-in tariff

Installed solar PV systems will need to be MCS certified

Social Energy

Their current export tariff offers its customers 6p/per kWh. However availability of the tariff is limited, and their website states that to be eligible for the tariff customers will need a solar battery and hub supplied by Social Energy and must be on supply with them for electricity
